The potato varieties and products sold are the result of continuous Research and Development along all phases of the supply chain.
Ever since the early 1990s, Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A. has focused its Research and Development towards a greater understanding of how consumer preferences and needs evolve. At the same time, the company has always been committed to making supply chain production more sustainable, guaranteeing quality, productivity, flavour and versatile uses, while respecting the environment and people’s health.
Today, the Research and Development department of Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A. works all along the supply chain: from research in the field of the best farming techniques for high-quality production with a low environmental impact, to process techniques – assessing the dormancy and shelf-life of potatoes after harvest – right up to experimentation into new packaging, to achieve excellent performance in terms of environmental sustainability, food safety and product protection.
Innovation in potato varieties lies at the heart of this ongoing study which is carried out in close collaboration with the main seed producers in Europe, creating over 100 distributed potato varieties.
Among our premium varieties, we find potatoes that are good for people’s health, considering their excellent nutritional profile, and for the environment, thanks to their lower use of chemicals, for sustainable, residue-free production.
Here are some examples:
• Alouette – a semi-late New Generation variety with intense yellow flesh and bright red skin, perfect for both conventional and organic growing;
• Arizona – a semi-early variety with yellow skin and flesh, with high production yields. Particularly recommended for southern Italy;
• Colomba – a very early variety with bright yellow skin and flesh, with excellent production yields;
• Constance – a medium-early variety with intense yellow skin and flesh, with outstanding organoleptic properties and excellent flavour. High production yields;
• Levante – a semi-late New Generation variety with bright yellow skin and yellow flesh, suitable for both conventional and organic growing. Excellent flavour.
