From 28 January to 8 February, at all Ce.Di. Gros stores in Lazio, when you buy a pack of “Patata di Campo-Amica dell’ambiente”, we will donate a meal to people living in hardship.
After the success of the first edition, this year once again sees the return of “Una mano dal campo”, the eco-solidarity campaign promoted by Legambiente together with Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A. and Ce.Di. Gros for Banco Alimentare del Lazio ODV. From 28 January to 8 February, at all Ce.Di. Gros stores in Lazio, for every 1.5 kg pack of “Patata di Campo-Amica dell’ambiente” purchased, Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A. will make a donation to Banco Alimentare to hand out enough food for one meal.
The large number of people who took part in the first edition of the initiative in November 2021, when 64,500 packs of “Patata di Campo-Amica dell’ambiente” were sold, encouraged the promoters to run it again in 2022. This new edition is part of the multi-year agreement of Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A. with the Banco Alimentare and Legambiente non-profit organisations to offer real support to people living in hardship and which, once again for the next campaign, will find support in the awareness and commitment of Ce.Di. Gros.
“Through this new edition of 'Una mano dal campo', we are once again delighted to show the nature of solidarity that has always been an integral part of how we do business,” explained Giulio Romagnoli, CEO of Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A. “Any company that calls itself sustainable has the responsibility to invest in solid projects aimed at improving social well-being, and to operate by adopting increasingly environmentally friendly production models.”
“We were pleasantly surprised by the success of the previous work in the 'Una mano dal campo' project, both in terms of sales, due to the major volumes moved, and society, created from the commitment of Banco Alimentare,” confirmed Giancarlo Amitrano, from the Ce.Di. Gros Purchasing Office. “This is why we enthusiastically accepted running the initiative again in early 2022, at a difficult time in history for Italian families.”
“Inequality, poverty and climate crisis are all sides of the same coin, caused by an economy that is still too 'dirty',” declared Giorgio Zampetti, General Manager of Legambiente. “We are all responsible for re-thinking our lifestyles and production models, including in agri-food. This is why 'Una mano dal campo' is offering food products recognisable by the logo 'Legambiente for High-Quality Italian Agriculture' (LAIQ), a campaign that many companies have signed up to, making a commitment to follow our guidelines, primarily linked to the absence of chemical residues (residue-free), but also to using less resources such as water and energy.”
“We are happy with the result achieved with the first edition, and our desire to replicate this initiative underlines the awareness of Bologna-based Romagnoli F.lli of the measures to combat poverty which Banco Alimentare is carrying out every day,” explained Giuliano Visconti, President of Banco Alimentare del Lazio. “Initiatives like these really show the alliance that we are trying to establish with companies which want to make a social commitment and wish to be by our side in supporting over 110,000 people living in hardship.”
The “Una mano dal campo” project also shows Romagnoli F.lli S.p.A.’s commitment to sustainable agriculture for people and the environment. In fact, “Patata di Campo-Amica dell’ambiente” potatoes, at the heart of this eco-solidarity initiative, are the result of the collaboration between the company and Legambiente for High-Quality Italian Agriculture. This high-quality potato supply chain, grown using low-pressure and high-efficiency irrigation systems, helps reduce water consumption by 30% and, by adopting strict production guidelines, considerably reduces the use of synthetic chemical molecules in protecting production.
