Who ever said that fruit and vegetable peels had to be thrown away?
In fact, for certain fruit and vegetables, what is usually considered waste can be included in your body care routine, used to clean your home and even become the key ingredient in creative recipes. Don’t believe us? Come see (and try) for yourself!
Citrus fruit peels. Orange, mandarin and lemon peels can be used to make cupboards and drawers smell nice. Just dry them and put them in small fabric bags to give your wardrobe the energising scent of citrus fruits.
Potato peels. Did you know that potato peels can be used to make delicious crunchy crisps? You have to wash them very carefully, dry them, fry them in boiling oil, season them with salt and then serve (check out other recipes here for potato peels:4 ways to stop wasting them).
Radish leaves. We usually eat the round root of radish plants, but the leaves are also edible. Their delicate flavour and tender texture make them perfect for preparing delicious omelettes.
Banana skins. Bananas are rich in useful substances for giving your skin vitality and radiance. Both the skin and flesh can be blended and then added to a couple of tablespoons of sugar to create a 100% natural body scrub.
Onion skins. Onion skins can be used as a fertiliser for your vegetable garden. Just leave them to soak for a day, filter the water and then pour a glass over each plant: two or three times a week will be more than enough to get healthier and stronger plants in no time at all.
